Aged only 22, South-Londoner Ray BLK takes inspiration from her childhood idols Missy Elliott and Timbaland, combining rap, soul and R&B, on tracks like her debut, ‘50/50’. Released late last year, ‘50/50’ premiered on I-D Magazine, and was awarded A-List slots on both 1Xtra and Rinse FM. Named as record of the week by Huw Stephens, championed by Annie Mac, Julie Adenuga and Toddla T, the track gained the support of media platforms such as Complex, Noisey, HypeTrak and MTV and saw Ray win the BBC Music Sound of 2017 award. Now working on a new sound, which takes cues from both electronic production and old school Bad Boy remixes, Ray is honing her live performance skills as she progresses to larger and larger audiences. One to watch. No doubt.
